Australia’s Red Centre is often a synonym for the world famous Ayers Rock, better known as Uluru. While the UNESCO site has rightfully earned a reputation for its unique beauty, there is so much more to the Red Centre than Uluru.

A beautiful region of red desert and sandstone rock formations, Central Australia is packed with unexplored gorges, waterholes and secret caves. Well-designed hiking routes weave their way through these geological formations, all of which can be weaved into a multi-day camping safari.

This region is also home to a myriad of endemic wildlife, such as the kangaroo, rock wallaby, dingo, bearded dragon, princess parrot, and hundreds of different species of lizards. Camp out under the stars here and you’ll get the chance to see these animals come out and play.

The traditional landowners of this region are the Aborigines, and these people have left their marks and tradition beneath in the desert. Many of the sites in the Red Centre are sacred to them – including the Uluru. After visiting these sites, you’ll have found not just immense natural beauty but also bits of culture and tradition strung together by the hands of Mother Nature.
